For a charitable cause, Maria João and João Farinha, António Zambujo, Sofia Escobar, Cristina Clara, Daniel Bernardes, Filipe Raposo, and the folk group Lita, made up of young musicians who are refugees from Ukraine, take the stage at the small auditorium.
Promoted by Égide - Portuguese Association of the Arts - this charity event aims to raise funds to bring art to all 12 internal medicine services at the Santa Maria and Pulido Valente hospitals, turning them into authentic art galleries.
The ARTE NO HOSPITAL project was born in 2020 from the dream of two medical students, as part of the academic arts group CurArte, a member of the Students' Association of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon. Its mission is to bring art to public hospitals, now focusing specifically on the Internal Medicine services, where isolation tends to prevail. Humanizing, the project fills the inhospitable walls with various artistic expressions - poems, photographs, illustrations, and paintings - to give soul to the corridors, rooms, and waiting areas. The goal is to make patients smile and provide them with a place to find refuge, positivity, and beauty, contributing to them feeling stronger in their daily lives.
Together, Égide and the Arte no Hospital project hope to make a significant contribution to connecting the infrastructure of healthcare units to the well-being and happiness of sick people, as well as visitors and healthcare professionals.
